Franchise Law

Mr. Weikert has over 20 years of experience in representing franchised auto dealers and dealer associations throughout the State of Michigan. Michael handles all aspects of auto dealership law including: consumer litigation, franchise disputes, buy/sell transactions and state and federal regulatory matters. In addition, he was one of the key drafters to the 2010 amendments to the Michigan Dealer Franchise Act. Mr. Weikert has represented franchisees operating various and diverse types of businesses including franchisees of restaurants, personal fitness centers and other service industries. Michael helps his clients resolve legal issues in all aspects of franchise law including: negotiation of franchise agreements, federal and state franchise law compliance, franchisor/franchisee disputes and franchisor/franchisee litigation.

Michael specializes in helping start up companies and small to medium size businesses effectively and economically manage their legal issues. Mr. Weikert works with his clients in formation of businesses, contract negotiations, licensing, transactional matters, mergers and acquisitions, and resolution of partnership and membership disputes.

Construction Law

Mr. Weikert has advised property owners, subcontractors and contractors throughout Michigan regarding various construction matters and has served as lead counsel to one of the largest residential home builders in the State of Michigan. Michael is well versed on all aspects of construction law and construction lien law and has litigated diverse and complex construction disputes in both state and federal court.

Family Law

Adept at sorting through the significant emotional and financial issues occasioned as a result of a divorce proceeding, Mr. Weikert obtains outstanding results for his clients. He resolves matters such as divorce, custody, alimony, pre & post nuptials, spousal support, and other critical issues encountered in the family courts.

Business Litigation

Michael serves as general counsel to businesses and specializes in handling complex business disputes and has extensive experience litigating business disputes in state and federal courts. He has tried cases involving contract disputes, non-compete, partner and membership dissolution and Michigan Uniform Trade Secrets Act claims, among others.

General Litigation

Michael has successfully represented individuals and business owners in a myriad of litigation actions including: general contract matters, municipal disputes, real estate, landlord/tenant, civil infractions, and Driver License Appeal Division hearings.
